Knowing When To Reupholster
Often I am asked: should I reupholster my sofa, loveseat, chair etc.?

One of the first questions I respond with is how does that piece of furniture `sit` now? If it is a quality sofa, etc. it will be very comfortable in its present state. It very well might have fabric that is falling off, stuffing coming out of seams or a spring that squeaks when you get up, but the underlying fact is that no matter what it `looks` like it is a comfortable piece of furniture.

Should every piece of upholstered furniture be reupholstered? Not necessarily.

You should be able to check for the springing that is in your piece of furniture simply by putting your hand under the sofa etc. to feel what`s there. If it has 8-way hand tied, web and coil construction you will feel the webbing under the muslin covering and the coils sitting on top. If not, your hand will just feel the muslin and air. If `air` is all you feel you could replace that piece of upholstery with the same quality for less than the cost to reupholster. However, if your current sofa, loveseat, chair etc. is an 8-way hand tied web and coil construction and you like how it sits now, you will spend less to reupholster than replace it with equal quality.

This is one of the main reasons our clients purchase upholstery from us. They insist on comfort and longevity. Great style and fabulous fabrics as well as excellent workmanship are hallmarks of Harold`s Interiors - whether you are purchasing new from us or trusting us with your reupholstering needs. We strip it down and build it back up again. All new padding, new foam core seats (unless we are reusing your down, which is a `for life` seat), and we always check your springs for any repair they might require - usually none. Also, as with our new upholstery, we always match the fabric.

Sometimes the piece holds great sentimental value and will be reupholstered for that reason.

I hope this information has been helpful in deciding whether or not to reupholster.

Our turn-around time is approximately 2 weeks from pick-up to delivering back to you your `new` furniture.
